Community Work for Ecosystem Restoration in Kenya

After his last tree-planting story was shared earlier in July, Justus Wanjohi – who runs a community-based organization called Giwa Climate Response – returns to update us with another amazing activity.

โ€œAs part of their Corporate Social Investment (CSI), the University of Embu, Together4Trees Kenya (CBO), and community residents participated in the launch of the National Tree planting exercise at the Jeremiah Nyaga Training Institute, Embuโ€, Justus says.

Over one thousand indigenous and exotic tree seedlings were planted as part of the plan to increase tree covering in Embu County by 21% until 2032.

The mission of Together4Trees Kenya is to expand urban forest cover in schools, institutes, and organizations, by involving the local community.

Justus shares that, โ€œOur actions might not affect the entire world all at once, but they make a difference. Everything we do today has a small, incremental impact, even if we canโ€™t see it immediatelyโ€.

Together4Trees Kenya is working to make this world a greener place. For the last three years, this group along with its dedicated volunteers, has been planting and nurturing trees in Nyeri County, Kenya.
