Giwa Climate Response, from Nyeri, Kenya

Justus Wanjohi introduced himself to us a couple of months ago. He runs Giwa Climate Response, a three-year-old community-based organization focusing on environmental conservation in Nyeri, Kenya.

On June 14, 2024, Justus reached out to tell us about Giwa’s recent activity: “In the spirit of supporting ecosystem regeneration and environmental conservation, today, volunteers, community residents, and staff of Highlands Mineral Water Company came together to plant 833 tree seedlings at Nyeri Hill Forest.”

A variety of plant species were planted, both indigenous and exotic. Graveria sp, Olea Africana, Warbugia ugandesis, and Acacia xant are among the planted species.

“My goal is to restore forests destroyed in the recent past and to restore lost biodiversity. I am aiming to plant 135 more tree seedlings before the end of 2024.

Together we can create a greener, safer, and more sustainable environment.”

Thank you for telling us your story.

We hope to keep hearing from you.
