Success Stories

Our friend from Global Tree Initiative UK, Paul Wielgus, shares a beautiful story with us. He tells us how he came to be involved with Global Tree Initiative and about his latest tree-planting activity, involving a “diverse bunch of willing people”.

In late January 2023, the team got together again and transformed an unmanaged plot into what soon will become a 2,000 sqm forest.

With the help of Jussa, our Zimbabwean coordinator, a tree was planted and dedicated to each of the translator assistants! The trees were planted by pupils of the Mutanda Primary school, as part of the #CatchThemYoung campaign of Manica Youth Assembly (MAYA).

Our friends in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continue with their tree-planting efforts. Ushindi Kashali, who leads a local group called ASOSOasbl, tells us about his motivation to plant trees.

Rowena Field, one of our UK coordinators, tells us an inspiring story of how a local community worked together to find a home for a tree.

The Kadampa Stupa is being built at the request of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and the project is led by Ven. Gyalten Dondrup, the Director at Atisha Centre.

On November 30, the Municipality of Loures, Portugal, received 35 young trees, as a symbolic celebration of the Portuguese Native Forest Day (November 23).

Francois heard about the GTI, he has planted numerous trees in Jeffreys Bay, a coastal surfing town in South Africa.

To date, they have planted more than 450,00 trees! These trees were dedicated to the chimps in the region who have no home, and are struggling to survive.

Diana has offered a Bodhi tree to her Sanskrit teacher from Russia, as a celebration of his birthday.

Our dear friend Belinda Hui, tells us about the tree–planting activity happening on her beautiful island.

Löic and Isabelle have been kind donors to the GTI since the very beginning. Now, they are, also, planting and dedicating trees – together!

Mrs. Taralekar tells us that the Rotary Club Sunrise and NGO Gawali Pratisthan joined forces to plant 100 trees at the Zila Parishad School in Mumbai, India.
