Jussa Kudherezera, our regional coordinator in Zimbabwe and the founder of Manica Youth Assembly (MAYA), inspires us with his latest story.

Matheus Pangracio Italiano celebrated the life of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, by planting a tree. Matheus believes “that we can make a difference planting trees and sharing the Dharma (…)”

The focus is on indigenous plants to the Bendigo area and especially those with benefits arising from the re-establishment of the biodiverse ecosystems of the Goldfields bioregion.

Piya took the call and planted one Lemon tree, one Java Plum tree, one Champa tree, and one Indian Gooseberry tree.

In total, we’re committed to planting 8000 trees, shrubs, and groundcover to restore the land as closely as possible to the original native forest as it was before it was cleared for grazing 50 years ago.

Inspired by the Global Tree Initiative, and by their love for nature, they now offer the new home-owners a small tree to plant in their new garden.

Our regional coordinators in the area – Mark Allaway and Jill Lancashire – together with the Atisha Buddhist Centre, planned and implemented a tree-planting activity last September 16.

For this occasion, an Ashoka tree (Saraca asoca) was planted by Tibet House and by students from Ukraine.

Apart from these, the group also planted 115 new trees in the village of Businga, Kagouchou, and at the hotel solidarity huts of Idjwi.

Bengu Fetzer is our regional coordinator in New Zealnd. Recently, she told us about a tree-planting activity she helped organize in mid-June this year.

The planting also celebrated a special event, which is the birthday of Sandhya’s son, Dhananjay.

This week’s Success Story shares a hopeful message from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Lazare Doulcom, our contact person in Burkina Faso, says that the government initiated a tree-planting project, led by the Ministry of Environment.

This week, we are happy to bring you the heartfelt story of hope from Tanzania, shared by Charles Mafaru.

Approximately 45 Rotary Club Ahmedabad Metro members, their spouses, and children got together, and planted a total of 35 trees!

On July 6, on the birthday of the Dalai Lama, one Ginkgo tree was planted at Maitreya Institute in Loenen, the Netherlands.

Ven. Deiki, a school teacher and resident at Root Institute, tells us that “Hans helped to arrange the tree-planting. After the first day of planting with the teachers, Hans went to the market to buy more trees. He also donated some seeds to the school children to plant.”

Inessa Slavski, our Ukrainian regional coordinator, tells us about a tree that was planted by her Ukrainian community.

“It is exciting, and it feels good to know that we will have so much fruit to eat and share. I love trees, and I love fruit!”
