Monks at Drepung Thiksay Educational & Cultural Society plant 10 trees!

This inspiring success story was shared with us by Chotup Lama and Hans Timpner.

They tell us that on the 15th of February, Geshe Jampa Tonyut, Chotup Lama, and all the monks at Drepung Thiksay Educational & Cultural Society got together to plant trees!

At the Mundgod Tibetan Camp in Karnataka, India, they planted 10 trees. The trees they planted include mango, coconut, pomegranate and neem trees.

Some of the monks happily planting a tree.

We are told that β€œThe trees were planted not only to beautify the area around the hostel (that is seen in the background of the pictures), but also to plant trees that would give some fruit to be enjoyed by the monks that will live there.

This accommodation was opened recently, and built with donations from all over the world since 2019.”

Thank you very much for telling us about your tree-planting activity. We look forward to seeing how your fruit trees grow!

If you are in India and want to get involved with tree planting too, get in touch with one of our GTI India regional coordinators.
