Thank you to everyone in the Global Tree Initiative community! Due to your support during our recent campaign, we reached our goal.
Please, help us welcome Anrich Bester. Anrich has been appointed to be our new project coordinator. He will start with a three-month trial with the option of continuing for the balance of the year contract.
Born and raised on the South coast of Africa, Anrich pursued a career in banking. After finishing an internship, he spent about eight years in the corporate banking industry, wearing a suit and tie. He worked in various positions and divisions which included serving a post in a bank in a rural village. On this experience, he shares that “The corporate banking industry offers great opportunities to develop the brain, but it lacks heart”.
After contemplating for more than one year, he finally scraped the courage together to leave the corporate world and life. He headed off to Incredible India.
For two years, Anrich served the FPMT in India. This allowed him to work not only with his brain but from his heart. Enjoying the warm Bihari sun, Anrich exchanged his suit and tie for a lungi.
While living and working in India, Anrich met Pia. This was a pivotal point in his life. Two years later, they were married in Germany. Since then, he has been doing short-term volunteer work for FPMT in France and Germany.
Equipped with the skills and experience of the corporate and the social sectors, and looking for an opportunity that offers a healthy balance of heart and brain, Anrich was referred to the Global Tree Initiative by his close friend, Gabriel Forrer. In August 2020 Anrich got involved as a regional coordinator volunteer. Since then he has been part of our team.
Anrich enjoys expressing himself through art and writing. As a tattoo artist, he is working on a design for the official Global Tree Initiative tattoo.
When he is not doing art or writing, he enjoys nature walks. He loves to cook. If you ever find yourself in his area, he invites you over for some company and to try out his cooking.
