Tibet House in India plants one tree for the Dalai Lama

Inessa Slavski, our Ukrainian regional coordinator, tells us about a tree-planting event she attended.

Inessa tells us that she was very fortunate to travel to India and Nepal, where she has been studying Buddhism, visiting special places, and meeting special people!

The trip to Asia was given to her by friends as a birthday gift.

She happened to be in Tibet House, in New Delhi, on the occasion of the Dalai Lama’s 88th birthday, on July 6. With excitement, she helped to coordinate the planting of one tree for the birthday of the Dalai Lama.

For this occasion, an Ashoka tree (Saraca asoca) was planted by Tibet House and by students from Ukraine.

“Ashoka, means ‘beyond suffering’ and so, this tree was planted together as a symbol of kind wishes to all sentient beings all over the world.” Inessa says.

With special thanks to Tibet House – Cultural Centre of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, for making this possible!

Have a look at the website of Tibet House, and look at the variety of educational courses they offer!

And, if you are in India and want to plant trees too, get in touch with one of our dedicated regional coordinators in India.
