30 Trees Planted By Sera Jey Science Center

A story by Geshe Khechok, Director

Sera Jey Science Center was inaugurated in January 2024, based on the request by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, that Sera Jey expand its science education program.

Scheduling conflicts prevented His Holiness from attending the inaugural ceremony, but we had the great good fortune for Kyabje Losang Tenzin, who was at that time serving as Ganden Tri Rinpoche, to preside over an event that included science debates and lectures by senior Sera Jey monastic students, and which was attended by sponsors and supporters from around the world.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Global Tree Initiative, Sera Jey Science Center was able to plant thirty trees on the grounds in front of the center in late 2025. These included: Neem, Tamarind, Guava, Pencil Palm, Mayflower Juniper, Fox tail Palm, Litchi, Chinese Dol Avocado, and various flowering plants.

Our hope is that these trees will improve the local environment and beautify the campus as an offering to our teachers, the monastic students, and visitors. We dedicate the trees for all sentient beings to find genuine peace and live in harmony with nature, and for the long life and fulfilment of all wishes of the sponsors.
