Edward Dalmau plants for the Laudato Si’ Action Plan project, Australia

This success story comes from our tree-planting community in Australia.

Edward Dalmau, from Queensland, Australia, tells us about his recent planting activity.

In October 2025, Edward planted 8 species, and he says that “These trees were planted on behalf of the Laudato Si’ Movement’s “Laudato Trees” initiative, and the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane’s Laudato Si’ Action Plan.”

His plantings include:
2 x Syzygium francisii
2 x Acacia complanata
2 x Acacia fimbriata
2 x Acacia laeiocalyx

However, these are not the only trees that Edward has planted. He shares this inspiring, heartfelt story with us:

“I have been a tree planter since a very early child. I remember planting an apricot seed picked up from under where my grandfather’s sulphur-crested cockatoo lived, under a grand old apricot tree. That seed grew, and I carried it back and planted it on his land when he had given that land, his market garden, to my father and uncle. The tree grew and bore magnificent-tasting apricots for many years. I have planted many trees in Australia, PNG (Papua New Guinea), and the USA over my lifetime.”

Wow, thank you so much for this beautiful story, Edward! We are inspired by you, and we hope to hear (and see) more about your past and future plantings!

We wish you and the Laudato Trees project a lot of success, and many more plantings!
