Planting starts at the Daylesford Dharma School

This week’s Success Story comes from our friends in Victoria, Australia!

Mark Allaway tells us about the recent planting that he, Jack, Jill, and Neville did.

“The Trees for Schools 2025 Planting Project at Daylesford Dharma School began planting the site with the first batch of 50 local indigenous trees, shrubs, and tussocks on the country of the Dja Dja Wurrung First Nations Peoples.

This planting aims to re-establish the natural ecology of the plants and, then hopefully, the animals, birds, and insects that have been lost over many decades. It begins to provide an outdoor classroom to observe and study a bush-like setting in association with a new bike path and playground area at the school.

The plantings will continue over the next few weeks with help from the students, and then later in autumn 2026. The work has been made possible by a crowdfunding donation appeal to cover the purchase of plants and materials.”

Jack and Neville, hard at work

After planting, they dedicated their hard work and collective efforts to “the long life, good health and continued teaching of HH The Dalai Lama and the swift location of the rebirth of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche. We especially dedicate these plantings to the staff, parents, and students of the Daylesford Dharma School, and all the supporters, benefactors, and volunteers who give generously of their time, energy, and commitment to help the school flourish.”

Thank you very much, Mark, Jack, Jill, and Neville, for making this wonderful project happen! We appreciate your efforts, and we are inspired by your work!
