Food for Thought, November 2024

Nov 19, 2024

Wrapping Up!

This is it! The time has come for the Food for Thought blog to come to a close. We launched the blog three years ago, back in November 2021. So much has happened since then!

Over 30 articles were written and recipes shared. Several topics were discussed with the intention to explore plant-based diets as a good option, for both people and planet.

In December 2021 we dived into the topic of food waste for the first time on the blog. The topic would be at the centre of discussion again soon. Check these articles for some facts and figures, as well as homemade ice cream recipes:

As you can read in the articles mentioned above (as well as in others from this blog), food waste is a very important topic, with very serious consequences on our Planet. As much as 1/3 of all food produced is wasted! Can you believe that?

I’d say, in broad terms, this blog space was used to “Celebrate Planet Earth”. To me, celebrating Planet Earth means facing the challenges threatening it today – biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, food waste, food insecurity, etc.

Even though it is not my expertise, I tried to spotlight an interesting subject that is in everything related to what we’re talking about – farming! Tackling food systems is a very complex business; it is not just about changing what we eat, we must change how we produce what we eat, too!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, food systems are complex and there is no silver-bullet solution that can change them overnight. This is exactly why we are all called to do something, as little or as much as we can. Eating in a more mindful way can have a tremendous impact, not only on the planet but on ourselves as well.

I’d like that to be the takeaway – what we eat matters! And how we eat it, too!

This is a closing article, but I’d like to invite you to visit our blog and read all the Food for Thought articles shared over the last three years. I hope they are useful.

I will bid farewell (for now) and thank you for all the support and for sticking around for this incredible journey!

If you wish to follow along, please reach out on Instagram. I’d love to see you there.
