International Women’s Day: Planting seeds of growth, both in nature and within ourselves.

On the 8th of March, we celebrated International Women’s Day. This day is internationally recognized and acknowledged by the United Nations, and for this year, the theme was “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”

In celebration of this wonderful day, we bring you this lovely story from Heather Falloon, our Australian Coordinator.

Planting Seeds of Growth

The Women’s Retreat was an incredible experience, and we were thrilled to celebrate International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Global Tree Initiative. Our retreat concluded with an International Women’s Day celebration: Planting seeds of growth, both in nature and within ourselves.

We partnered with Wildplant Rescue in Katoomba, who generously provided native plants for the women to take home and nurture, along with a little message from me.

These plants serve as a beautiful, living reminder for the women: “What you tend grows. I hope the parts of yourself you reconnected with this weekend continue to grow.” Heather

Throughout the retreat, the women engaged in a variety of empowering activities, including self-discovery workshops, meditation, yoga, mindful nature walks, and plant-based eating. It was a chance to pause, reconnect with nature, and focus on self-care, both mentally and physically.

In today’s world, women often juggle endless responsibilities, to-do lists, and wear many hats. This retreat was a heartfelt reminder of their worth and the importance of tending to their own well-being.

Heather, what a beautiful story! Thank you so much for organizing such an inspiring retreat, and thank you for the incredible work that you do. We appreciate your dedication and your passion. We also want to thank the Wildplant Rescue in Katoomba for providing these ladies with plants. We look forward to seeing how they grow and flourish!

From our PlantGrowSave team, we wish all women around the globe a happy Women’s Day, and a big thank you to all the women in our global tree-planting community for helping us grow.

Please share this. Thank you!
