Latest News From Our GTI India Team

In light of recent developments, we are announcing the resignation of our three Regional Coordinator volunteers in India: Dipen Mehta, Lokendra Balasaria, and Mrinalini Nigde.

These three dedicated volunteers made a tremendous contribution to our community in India. Not only did they coordinate many tree-planting projects, but they also helped to develop a strong community in India, sharing knowledge and inspiring those around them.

It all started when Mrinalini joined our Global Tree Initiative team in 2020, and through her devotion and commitment, the Global Tree Initiative started to develop a strong presence in India.

Reflecting on 2020, Mrinalini told us that the moment she saw the Global Tree Initiative website, she was attracted to our mission and vision. Additionally, Mrinalini shared that after reaching out to the Global Tree Initiative, she was touched by the sweet and prompt reply from our (then) global director, Jacie Keeley.

“This warm and instant reply touched my heart. I knew this was the place I was looking for – a warm-hearted planting community!” Mrinalini shares.

With Mrinalini being deeply aligned with the Global Tree Initiative’s mission and vision, she tirelessly worked to bring more people to our global community. Thanks to her, many people have become aware of the Global Tree Initiative and our mission.

Through Mrinalini’s community building, she introduced many inspiring tree-planters to the Global Tree Initiative, including Dharmendra Kar, Raghunath Dhole, Chhaya Taralekar, and Sandhya Chougule, just to name a few. Accordingly, these individuals have planted and reported thousands of trees in India, as part of our global tree-planting community.

Mrinalini stayed in close contact with the Global Tree Initiative management and directors’ team, and when the director role was taken over by Hans Timpner in 2022, this relationship was strengthened even more when Hans met Mrinalini in India.

As Mrinalini was expanding our Global Tree Initiative’s community in India, she met Lokendra and Dipen, and accordingly, they too joined our team as regional coordinators for India.

Lokendra has hosted many wonderful tree-walk events, where he helped people to get in touch with nature and to learn from nature. On the other hand, Dipen has organized many tree-planting events with his local community, while also educating our global community on water preservation.

A very big thank you to our Regional Coordinator volunteer team in India for the incredible work you’ve done over the past years. We sincerely appreciate all you have done for our community in India, and for the time and energy you invested into the Global Tree Initiative.

With the resignation of our three team members in India, the GTI India Facebook page will also be closed down. We invite all the followers of the GTI India page to please like and follow our international page, Global Tree Initiative.

You are also invited to follow TreeWalks, by Lokendra Balasaria, on Instagram and on Facebook.
