If you are not already inspired and impressed by these numbers, we will give you some fun statistics about trees!
There are about 73,000 tree species in the world!
How many do you know?
Of the undiscovered tree species, roughly 40% are believed to live in South America.
Over 30% of all tree species are at risk of extinction.
This means that around 1 in 3 tree species face threats of extinction due to deforestation, climate change, habitat loss, and more.
3,000,000,000,000 trees – that is 3 trillion!
Current estimates put the number of trees in the world at about 3 trillion. The good news is that researchers believe there is space for many more trees in abandoned or unused lands and parks. This could also include your back garden!
About 116 meters tall, and more than 600 years old.
This is the estimated size and age of the tallest tree in the world! The tallest known living tree on Earth is called Hyperion, a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). It lives in Redwood National Park, California, USA
