In October 2025, the Trees For Schools project at Daylesford Dharma School started in Australia. It seems like so long ago, and in case you want to refresh your memory, you can read the first article here.
Since October 2025, we have published numerous stories about the development of this project, such as:
– An update from Daylesford Dharma School
– 14 Blackwood Trees Planted at Daylesford Dharma School
– The final planting for 2025 at Daylesford Dharma School
On the 9th of May, Mark Allaway shared that:
This is the final day of plantings at the School for the Trees for Schools Project at DDS in 2026. We have planted over 500 plants over the past 8 months and visited the site on 18 separate occasions through Spring, Summer, and now Autumn. Mel and Jill worked really hard to clear weeds from the mulched beds. The trees and shrubs are growing very well with minimal losses of about 15 plants. We are excited to see that the semi- mature Blackwood trees already on the site, which were disturbed by the excavation work to clear weeds, have resprouted with many root suckers that are growing rapidly to establish themselves as independent trees! Some are over one metre high already after 6 months. The soil and moisture conditions have been ideal for the project, so we have been very fortunate with the season. We will continue to monitor the site and report again on progress and establishment.
This is incredible news, Mark!
We are so grateful for everything that you, Jill, Heather, Mel, Barry, Jack, Neville, and the rest of the team have done. Also, we want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the GoFundMe campaign, helping to make this project possible. And finally, thank you to the Daylesford Dharma School for allowing this project at the school.
We know that this project took a lot of planning, time, energy, and personal expenses, and we wholeheartedly appreciate the effort everyone invested. Thank you!!
To our global community: If you are interested in doing a similar tree-planting project at your local school, please let us know! We would love to hear about your project, and discuss ways in which we can help to promote and support your project!
